We started the new year cohosting a vision board party aptly named “The Surge” alongside H.E.L.D., an accountability group for and by Black women. Our friends at Saint James Libations hosted us for a second time as we sipped wine cocktails, got extra locked in on puzzles, pulled Creative Kin cards, and had oxtail patties for the manifestation munchies.

The evening was equal parts joyful, inspiring, and purposeful as guests hopped on the mic to share their passions and what they're calling into the new year: from consistency to community building, to being more bold, moving with creative purpose.

We decorated an actual board with notes describing one goal we each hope to accomplish, and provided guests with free bookmarks courtesy of H.E.L.D where they could write down things like what they're carrying into the year, what project they hope to complete, and a habit they're releasing, all on a keepsake they can keep on them all year round.

We ended the night with a special performance from Brooklyn-based singer and songwriter, Alicia Drayton, followed by a banging set by DJ Dayi.

A surge is a sudden forward or upward movement by a natural force. Through the various activations, shared tools, resources, and stories, we created a surge to start the year off right.

Keep up with Creative Kin on social!
