How We Turned Our Creative Chaos Into a Deck of Cards

In many ways, making Creative Kin was the quintessential collaborative rollercoaster. First came the dopamine hit when the idea first hit. Then the productive sprint after a really good brainstorm. Then... procrastination. The burnout. Because life happens.

Eventually, the spark found its way back, not that we ever lost sight of the goal, sometimes it just gets a little blurry. And of course, we also had to navigate the entirely unwanted but probably necessary conflict that comes with four big, neurospicy, creatively-driven brains trying to build one cohesive thing.

For some insight, here’s a quick rundown of who we are:

Oyinda – Social strategist and writer by day, chronically online zillennial every other time. She’s firmly in her lane as Creative Kin’s social lead while also faking it (convincingly) as Executive Director.

adé – Our resident brand designer. She flows effortlessly between design, cultural production, and laughing at her own debatably funny dad jokes.

Simi – Brand strategist and Team CK’s on-call astrology consultant. If there are hard questions to be asked or pushes to expand the vision, she’s delivering them.

Lola – Full-time punk princess using her eye for aesthetics and chronic Pinterest addiction for good as CK’s in-house creative director and visual compass. 

Coming together as four distinct creative identities meant going back to basics. We had to get to know each other—and ourselves—on a deeper level. Not just as collaborators, but as individuals. That meant a lot of looking inward to figure out what actually mattered to us, and what we were each bringing to the table.

Because of that, we created something with real range. Creative Kin isn’t just another card game—it’s a deck of conversational starters that goes beyond surface-level icebreakers to spark authentic connections at game nights, team brainstorms, or even a random Thursday-night hang at your friend’s apartment. Think of it as a cheat code for conversation—compact enough to toss in your bag and unlock meaningful play wherever you go, whether you're navigating a creative career or just craving a really good yap session.

Packed into a sleek tin, Creative Kin is the no‑BS embodiment of real creative collaboration: messy, exciting, challenging, and deeply connective. So when we say we get it, we’re not just trying to get you to “add to cart” (although you definitely should), we're talking lived experience.
